FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Commissioning?

Commissioning is a process. Its goal is a fully functional, well-tuned HVAC system with complete documentation. Emphasis is placed on the owner's program, design intent, documentation, and proper communication between the owner, design professional and contractor. It also requires that building operations and maintenance personnel be provided with complete systems training and receive documentation on the design, installation and intent of operation. This process is intended to achieve quality of the systems from the start in lieu of inspecting for quality or modifying the system after the facility is occupied.

Why is testing, adjusting, & balancing HVAC systems important?

Testing, adjusting and balancing is an important integral part of the system acceptance. Proper system operation is confirmed at this stage in the construction process. Documentation and confirmation of system performance assures that the equipment and systems meet the design intent for efficiency of operation and other standards of performance, such as IAQ.
